CUB CRAFTERS

Jim Richmond is one of those fortunate people who have made a successful career of something they love. In Jim's case, it's a deep appreciation of an iconic airplane: The Piper Super Cub. Back in 1980, after a thorough fact-finding trip to Alaska (where the Super Cub is a favorite bush plane), Jim made the decision to sell his home insulation business and switch to rebuilding Super Cubs thus CubCrafters was born.

Sky Cowboy Supply Company

Well, where to start?  I'm an adventure pilot.  Not by trade, but by hobby. This whole thing started in search of a cost effective, but safe back country aviation helmet... which proved to be nearly impossible. So I came up with my own solution, bought a 3D printer and made myself some adaptors to convert my existing Bose A20 headset to work with a military style helmet.  A few photos posted on the internet later, and here we are!  Now, I'm working to curate innovative backcountry gear. Items that make the adventure pilot experience safer, more enjoyable, and less expensive.  Aviation is already expensive enough!

This isn't my day job, and I don't expect it to ever become that, I'm just looking to give back to the pilot community.  Certainly I wouldn't be here without the help of other pilot's bright ideas and support.

The Goal: To become the one stop shop for the backcountry aviation world!  So if you have questions or suggestions please feel free to reach out.

Flight Outfitters

Ever since he heard his grandfather telling stories of his time in a B-24 during World War II, Mark has been fascinated by aviation. Like many pilots, he took a few lessons as a kid, but had to give up training when a family and career came along. After a 25-year break, Mark earned his Private Pilot certificate and now enjoys flying a Cessna 172 and a Citabria for business and pleasure.

During his flight training, Mark couldn’t find a flight bag that met his needs. After a conversation with his flight instructor, he decided to design one that did, and the result was the Flight Outfitters Lift bag. From that single product he and his team have since built one of the most popular brands in aviation. Each of the bags, kneeboards, and accessories in the Flight Outfitters line is driven by Mark’s enthusiasm for flying and making sure that each product can help you “pilot your own adventure.”
